How to Install Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 in VMware Workstation (works for Windows Server 2008 too)
This article describes how to install Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 and older versions on VMware Workstation.
The following has been tested on VMware Workstation 8 and should work on all later versions, too.
Step 1
Create a VM but don’t start it. Choose ‘I will install the operating system later’ when creating the new VM.
Step 2
Close the tab and edit the VM’s VMX file in notepad. Add the following lines:
hypervisor.cpuid.v0 = "FALSE" vhv.enable = "TRUE" mce.enable = "TRUE"
Step 3
Now proceed and install the operating system. You need to add the above lines before the operating system is installed.
Hope this helps!
